The plot of the newest episode of “Star Trek: Decrease Decks,” known as “The Stars at Night time,” pits the usS. Cerritos, a California-class ship, in opposition to the usS. Aledo, the primary of three Texas-class ships that function on A.I. and carry no crew aboard. Capt. Freeman (Dawnn Lewis) feels that automated ships merely do not have the capability for sensible humanitarian missions, and desires to show that her personal scrappy crew can out-do something the Aledo can do. This requires a fast, bustling crunch time whereby the complete crew scrambles to arrange for the face-off. Dr. T’Ana (Gillian Vigman) screams at everybody in sickbay waving a using crop. Lt. Cmdr. Billups (Paul Scheer) barks that each one his engineers should be on the prepared for something. And Cmdr. Jack Ransom (Jerry O’Connell) advises all of the Cerritos’ future commanders on find out how to higher lead.
Hilariously, a part of Ransom’s last-minute reminders contain instructing his officers find out how to correctly execute a Riker Maneuver. No, not the tactical one — the sitting down one. He reveals his officers find out how to elevate a leg over the again of a chair and sit commandingly in it. “Command the chair,” he says gruffly. It is a cute in-joke for Trekkies, but additionally reveals the small ways in which minor character conduct on “Star Trek” involves be admired by the individuals who adopted.
